Show Update #11- STD and TBS at Bucknell University
It took four hours to get to my sisters college, through unending rain from i think a hurricane. Luckily instead of being cancelled the show was moved inside. It was free to the public, along with free food, which was pretty cool.
Band #1- Taking Back Sunday
I really like TBS and thought it awesome to see them. I found it weird that they just started the show randomly, no announcement or anything. The mosh broke out after the second song, but i was in the back so it didn't affect me. The sound system really wasn't that great for their set. I understood the lyrics, while my sis, her roommate, and my dad didn't. I liked them but they're CD is much better than their show was. Thats alright, i still bought a TBS shirt.
Band #2- Saves the Day
Started out with "At Your Funeral", which is a great song. Everyone was cheering, running up as close to the stage as they could get, and singing along. I just stood my own, I had a good view where I was. People were moshing to Saves the Day, haha. I found myself caught in the whole mix of things. I wasn't thirsty anymore, i wasn't hungry, i didn't need anything. Through 2 new songs, 3 old songs, and 2 five year old accoustic songs, i had the same feeling. STD was my lifeline. They were flowing through my veins. The overall effect was amazing. There was an energy, it flowed through out the audience. Everyone was singing. Everyone was dancing. A lot of people were crowd surfing. Saves the Day is great.
Lets review:
I didn't get to meet either band, but thats alright, they had to fly to Atlanta to play a concert later that night. I did get off a lot of good pictures of both bands, those will be availble later when i get them developed. I laughed at the age range of the audience, 10-25 and then my dad, funny seeing 10 year olds who haven't even experienced the hardships of life, trying to look like emo kids. It was a great show, it felt local even though it wasn't. Worth the 4 hour drive.
