Show Update #10- The Fiction We Live Tour at the Theater of Living Arts
Well this show was headlined by From Autumn to Ashes, and i got the chance to go, thanks to Joey and Eyelean, and Eyelean not wanting to go. This was my first show with a big band, so i was extremely excited.
Band #1- Funeral for a Friend
They are from the UK, so i was upset when i couldn't get a shirt for them. Anyway their songs were really good. The lead singer had a really good voice and combined with the drummer who screamed, it was a pretty good sound. It was funny in between songs for them to talk in english accents, i don't know why, but it was. They headbanged a lot, must've made their heads hurt.
Band #2- Every Time I Die
So they had to turn off the lights and run on stage in the dark after 10 minutes of waiting in total darkness, for the full effect. Their set involved, some really good screams, not deep screams but like screams in pain. Also the lead singer jumped around a lot and came down and sung off the gate seperating the stage from the crowd. He almost fell a couple times but the huge bouncers with no necks caught him. I liked their set a bunch, it involved a lot of feeling put into the music.
Band #3- Cave In
So I expected this show to be all hardcore bands with nothing but screaming, and then Cave In came on. They started off with some crazy effects on the guitar and on the microphone, the guy had like 30 petals all in his area. The intro that took about 10 minutes, full of almost industrial like effects and heartfelt lyrics, was mesmerizing. It sounded almost like Dirty Vegas. All i could do was nod my head and try to control myself. I didn't need the lyrics, I just got the whole emotion from the energy behind everything in the sound. The cd i got just doesn't have the same effect on me, i guess it was the disco ball.
Band #4- From Autumn to Ashes
I guess you could say i couldn't wait for From Autumn to Ashes to come on, so when they entered in pitch black it was awesome. Every one seemed to feel the same way, the crowd cheered and swayed. With every song the crowd erupted with lyrics, everyone was banging their head, and when one person fell into the back of the crowd there was a domino effect and everyone fell forward with them. When the lead singer jumped to the crowd and held the microphone to their mouths, it was clear, the lyrics were clear. I felt moved by the energy in it all, i really liked being in the middle of this crowd, with my friend, with everyone. Its really too bad the girl wasn't there to sing with them, but their set was still great without her.
Lets review:
I was up front the whole time, in a perfect standing spot. The girls in front of us were the "LIKE OH MAH GAH" type but whatever. The people around me were from all types, all kinds of shirts, all kinds of styles, and a lot of big guys without necks and huge arms. There was even this like terrorist in the mosh, he had a "terror" shirt and wore a hoodie with a bandanna around his mouth. The bouncers were big guys who could pick up girls, one handed, and chuck them if they wanted to. The energy was just amazing.
